Salter Brothers announces strategic partnership with Tokyo Century Corporation in Japan

Press Release | July 25, 2024

Salter Brothers is delighted to announce the strategic partnership with Tokyo Century Corporation to pursue hotel and hospitality opportunities in Japan.

Salter Brothers, an Australian-owned global fund manager, has an established track record of acquiring, developing and managing high quality hotel assets, with 41 assets under management across Australia, Asia and the USA. As the largest owner of international branded hotels in Australia, Salter Brothers is well positioned to leverage its strong senior relationships with key global hospitality operators for the Japanese market.

Tokyo Century Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan and listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, is a leading Japanese provider of leasing services and specialist finance, with a global presence in over 30 countries. Active across a range of sectors, including real estate, aviation, shipping, automobiles, and commercial equipment, Tokyo Century Corporation is committed to driving the shift towards a digital and sustainable future.

The partnership, which will cover both existing and new assets, will allow Salter Brothers to apply their experience refurbishing, rebranding and repositioning existing assets with international operators to the Japanese market. International brands have traditionally been underrepresented in the Japanese hotel market, providing an exciting opportunity for the new partnership.

Tokyo Century already owns 2 operating hotels in Japan, the ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa and Hotel Indigo in Karuizawa and this partnership will seek to expand this base.

Yoichiro Nakai, Deputy President, Executive Officer, Tokyo Century Corporation commented –

Paul Salter, Managing Director at Salter Brothers, added “Salter Brothers is proud to be working with Tokyo Century in this new and exciting venture, partnering on hospitality opportunities in the Japanese market. In Japan, we are strongly focused on working with best-in-class ownership and management to unlock operational value-add, leveraging our pan-Asia hospitality investment experience and relationships with operating partners.”
